Sahajayoga Experiences
Three stories now about seeking
It was the middle of 1983 and I had constant dreams of earthquakes, buildings collapsing and spasms of intense heat being released from my lower back. I thought Hatha Yoga would somehow help me. There was a great emptiness in my life, and I kept desiring for something I couldn’t explain or understand. I had just finished a Hatha Yoga class and was waiting for a bus. A picture flashed into my mind of a woman dressed in a long white gown, with long black hair. She was standing in a wooded area with cabins and there were little stones on the ground. This vision disappeared just as quickly as it entered my head, but then a calmness entered my being.
That evening, after dinner, I rested on the couch while my son played with his toys. Suddenly, my hands felt very heavy and strong sensations flashed through my palms and fingers. I sat on the floor. My hands opened, as if ready to receive something. Then I heard a powerful sound coming from way above my head, a rushing sound, like a wind blowing. The sound came down and pierced the top of my head and then filled my whole being. I knew that this was something good and powerful. My son had also opened his hands and felt this energy. I don’t know how long this lasted, maybe one minute, maybe fifteen minutes.
For the next three weeks after this experience I felt a peace and joy that are hard to explain. I was in a state of being where nothing bothered me. I desired nothing and I needed nothing. My son was constantly at my side because he was also feeling these vibrations.
Three months later, in September 1983, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi came to the United States for a big and important tour. I went to Her public program and the next month, October, we had a weekend seminar in northern New York state in Shri Mataji’s presence. Having then more time to be near Shri Mataji, I began to realize that She was not just any ordinary woman, but a woman of great depth, beauty, and grace.
One beautiful evening Shri Mataji spoke to us for some time and then we enjoyed some bhajans, Indian devotional songs. It was quite late and everybody was preparing to go to bed, but I felt a strong desire to go outside for a walk. I realized I had been seeking Shri Mataji all my life and She had been the woman in my vision.
On my way back to the cabin, I passed the house where Shri Mataji was staying. I looked all around me and saw the cabins and the wooded area that I had seen in my vision months before. I even felt the little stones under my feet. I had finally come home!
Some time later, I was starting to establish myself in Sahaja Yoga. I wrote Shri Mataji a letter which contained the basic questions that all seekers desire to have answered. The questions were “Who is God? Who are we? What are we doing here? Why are we here?” Would She answer these questions?
Some time after sending the letter, I had a beautiful dream. Shri Mataji appeared dressed in a pure white sari and holding the letter in her hand.
“I am aware.” She simply said, and I awoke from this dream and could only smile because peace and tranquillity filled my whole being. A couple of days later, I was sitting on a bench in front of my son’s school waiting for him to come out. Watching the mothers waiting for their children, I started to think about Shri Mataji. All of a sudden my Kundalini rose so quickly and so spontaneously. I felt it on the top of my head very strongly. My whole attention was there and then I saw all the people coming together, as if they were all one. I heard their voices very far away. Then my eyes closed and two dreams that I had experienced many years before flashed into my mind. Then miraculously my Sahasrara chakra opened fully.
What I saw is quite difficult to explain. I saw the whole universe in total harmony! There was order, peace and stillness. God was like a great, huge, white, shining planet of radiant energy. He was a state of being of pure total joy and peace, full of limitless knowledge. Around God were little shining planets very similar to Him and containing His same qualities. This picture of astounding beauty and radiance lasted for only a short time.
When I reached home, I felt as if I had to eat something, although I really wasn’t hungry. As I ate a hastily prepared sandwich, my Kundalini again rose and I felt it very strongly. As I ate, I felt as if I were two separate beings. My physical body was just a mechanical thing, functioning like a machine, but my Kundalini was flowing freely and strongly and the joy it gave me is hard to explain. She was my spirit! She was alive and radiant! She permeated my whole being with love and peace.
Her Holiness Shri Mataji graciously granted me the answers to questions I had wanted to know all my life. Who are we? We are nothing but the Spirit. We are the Great Mother’s children who are now on the way to Her Kingdom. God and His Shakti are vibrations of life and peace and we are made in their image. Let us be worthy of this great honour.

During a meditation after the Lord’s Prayer, I saw a very strong bright light pass through the Agnya chakra, at the level of the forehead. I didn’t feel my body any more. It was silent. I had entered into the Kingdom of God.
The greatest experience I had was to see the manifestation of Shri Ganesha. lt is very difficult to meditate when the heart is closed. I begged Shri Ganesha, who is in all the chakras, to open my heart only for one minute just to express my love to You. Suddenly, a fireball, a warm light — I could really see it — raised from Mooladhara chakra at the base of the backbone to my heart and tears came out of my eyes. I cannot describe this feeling. Our quest is to become the Spirit. After a short time the fireball returned the same way, back to Mooladhara and I regretted so much to have only asked for one minute.

The Universe in the mouth
Jun 15th, 2008 by pureimage
Shri Mataji came to New York in about 1982 approximately a year after I’d become a yogi. The local Sahaja Yoga leader had explained over the months that Shri Mataji works on several levels, both on the conscious and subconscious levels. She said that Shri Mataji often worked on us in the dream state, but sometimes we just imagined Shri Mataji was in our dreams. I didn’t really understand.
I was extremely excited and I dreamt of Her. The dream was set at a public programme and Shri Mataji turned and pointed Her right Visshuddhi (index) finger at me. This chakra is connected with Lord Krishna.
“Open your mouth!” She said in the dream. Her command was so direct that when I awoke, my mouth was wide open.
The day of Shri Mataji’s programme arrived and the question of Her presence in the dream kept surfacing. Finally, in my heart, I begged Shri Mataji to put the question to rest: ‘Were You really in my dream telling me to open my mouth?’
Shri Mataji proceeded with her talk but my internal questions kept surfacing. Then, amazingly enough, Shri Mataji began telling a story of little Lord Krishna. She spoke of how the mischievous toddler loved to steal the butter, thus weakening the strength of the devils who battled the righteous. Shri Mataji spoke of how one day Shri Krishna’s mother was preparing some food, when the butter disappeared. She asked him where the butter was and the ever-playful Shri Krishna shook His head.
“Open your mouth, open your mouth,” His mother commanded. In His mouth was the sight of the universe. Shri Mataji had given me my answer, not only the answer of my dream, but the answers of the universe.
America is the country corresponds to the Visshuddhi chakra as far as the world goes. It is at the level of the throat in the body, and of course this is the chakra of Shri Krishna.

I was being whirled into this cosmic flux
Jun 14th, 2008 by pureimage
I still have this wonderful image of Shri Mataji standing by a sofa in one of the sahaja yogi’s houses, and pointing at some hand-drawn diagram of the chakras and explaining it to us and having my first footsoak sitting in front of Shri Mataji. One of the Sahaja Yogis brought a basin of salty water and Shri Mataji was working on me with limes. The amazing thing was that I allowed it all to happen, because my background had been twelve years in a Methodist school, plus at that time I was a newly qualified aerospace engineer just out of college, with all that skepticism. Whatever Mother did during those sessions cleared me out quite a lot because the next time I met Her in Caxton Hall I experienced spiritual ecstasy.
There were relatively few people in the room. At each program, She would sit down and close Her eyes and those who were Sahaja Yogis would also close their eyes. But I would always watch what was going on, still being rather curious. On this particular day, which was the 8th of April 1978, I was watching Shri Mataji very closely and She opened Her eyes and looked straight at me. And then something very amazing happened.
She just gazed at me and I felt as though I was being pulled into Her eyes. The next thing I knew, I was being whirled into this cosmic flux, going back through time and experiencing all those things that I had studied in history whizzing past me. It is truly hard to describe. I distinctly saw/heard/smelt/felt certain objects like a sabre-tooth tiger, the universe, planets, etc., until it came back to “the beginning.” And then there was nothing, just nothing. And, in the middle of this nothingness was Shri Mataji.
It just encompassed me, this complete silence which was like a thick transparent sphere of silence. I was feeling complete love and compassion flowing out of me, and I was in tune with everything. All of nature, all of life was living and breathing with me. My every gesture made ripples and waves in this completely interlinked creation. All this lasted for three days and nights, where I was in a perpetual state of ecstasy. It is impossible to describe.
Now the interesting thing is that after I had this experience, I went back home and wrote a letter to Mother, just apologizing for having not known who She is. And the next time when I went down to London, which was the following weekend, Shri Mataji came up on stage and looked straight at me and said: “Bala, that was a beautiful letter you wrote me.” And then She told the people that I had had a very special experience and after the meeting She invited me to Her home.

Sahajayoga helps Easy and Ideal parenting
As Parents it is our foremost duty to bring them up very consciously, so that they can become concerned citizens on this planet, handling their life in right direction. Wellbing of children is always our concern as Parents.
Our Parenting can get direction from Sahajayoga. Children have important habit of immitating parents . So it becomes essential for us to show them through our own behaviour the various values of life, the way of treating others, the love and compassion. We have to nurture them rightly.
Thousands of Parents from different parts of the world are teaching their children Sahajayoga and make them balanced, concerned, conscious, free from fear or favour, physically and mentally healthy. It wards them off from violence, vulgarality, drugs and immortality.
In order to overcome the problems of children international sahajayoga schools have been established - one in rural Italy , and mountain parts of Himachal Pradesh in India. Surrounded by beauty of nature, and children from various nations of the world, they develop the bonds of love and friendship since beginning, and their horizones becomes broader. They develop inner peace and strength, which help them to resist peer temptations, pressures from the outside world.
We as sahajayogi teach our children sahajayoga, and teachings of Mataji Nirmaladevi, which will be the great wealth for them throughout their life.

Search of Joy
Following is the extract of one of the lectures given by Mataji Nirmaladevi on how to find Joy.-
Joy Is the Blessing of the Divine
Shri Mataji-
What is our job is to enjoy, enjoy everything, and that enjoyment is the blessing of the Divine. Even you can enjoy the turmoil, the torture, everything you can enjoy if you see the point that nothing can happen to your spirit, which is the real light. Whatever you may suffer, whatever you may think is troubling you, actually this silent light of the spirit makes you absolutely perfectly joyous.
And you give joy to others. You don’t design it, you don’t plan it, how to give joy, but you just automatically give joy; and this giving joy is also effortless, sahaj, because you are in the sahaja state. In the sahaj state you just see things. It’s a drama you feel it, it’s a different styles, different types, and you just see and watch and get the joy out of it. It is not important to say, “I like this, I like that” – no. That “I” which likes is nothing but ego, and keeps you out of the enjoyment which is reality, which is real. Everything in this world that you find is troublesome, if you see from another angle, from a sahaja sthiti, you won’t feel the troubles. But that higher life should be there, that higher standard should be built within you.
Shri Mataji, 2000

Nirmal Vidya
Kindly read with interest about " Nirmal Vidya"
Here are some excerpts from Speeches that Shri Mataji made on " Nirmala
Vidya " in the 1980's. Please enjoy
" It is the special power by which we do All Divine Work, even forgiving. When
you say, `Mother, forgive us,' the technique by which I forgive you is " Nirmala
Vidya " . The technique by which I love you is also " Nirmala Vidya " . The technique
by which all the Mantras are manifesting themselves and are effective is also
" Nirmala Vidya " . " Nirmala " means pure. " Vidya " means knowledge. " Nirmala Vidya "
is purest knowledge or the knowledge of this technique. The energy creates loops
and creates also different formations by which it acts and draws all that is
unwanted, impure and fills it up with its power. It is a divine technique, which
I may not be able to explain to you fully because your instrument does not do
that – you don't have that instrument.
But now you see how subtle it is. Only by saying `Nirmala Vidya,' you invite
that power, the whole thing, the whole technique to attend to you and it attends
to you. You don't have to worry. It never happens in any government or anywhere
in the world. You just have to address the government and the whole thing goes
into work, in the whole, the entire universe, every creation. That technique is
called " Nirmala Vidya " . That technique once mastered by surrendering to it, it
completely obeys, absolutely. But it is Ganesh Shakti, the Shakti of innocence,
is the power called innocence. The whole power because it is innocence. So the
innocence takes over, which manages. That's how it works out.
Then it goes on rising and is called " Para Shakti " , beyond power… then becomes
Madhyama and all that. It comes up to the Vishuddhi at the left. There you
become guilty. Because of your guilty nature you say things that are harsh. Left
Vishuddhi is the catch of the Ganesh Shakti. Ganesh is sweetest thing you can
think of. Even when you look at Ganesh, this Kautuk – this innocent admiration
starts flowing. Just think of him, you feel so happy. That innocence becomes
harsh on Left Vishuddhi. So to overcome your left Vishuddhi all of you are to
use sweet words. Your language should be sweet to everyone, especially (men)
should speak sweetly to their wives. Now that sweetness will cure your left
Vishuddhi. Always speak very sweetly, try to find out all the sweet words. The
sweet methods of addressing is the best way to cure your guilt: because if you
say anything harsh to anyone you may say so as a matter of habit or may be
because you just feel happy by saying that, but as soon as you say it, you say,
`Oh God, what did I say' – that is the biggest guilt. One has always to try to
find out sweet words. Now the birds are chirping. In the same way you have to
learn all the sounds of everything by which you make people happy by your
sweetness. It is very important. Otherwise, if your left Vishuddhi grows too
much, you will develop a way of talking by which your lips will get distorted to
the left.
Then the flow starts higher, in the Agnya Chakra, where the Ganesh Shakti
becomes the Greatest Power of Forgiveness. Then it rises higher into the limbic
area where Ganesh Shakti goes beyond the Surya; the super-ego comes up and this
power is that of the Moon and this Moon is " Spirit " … this becomes " Spirit " and
sits on the head of Sadashiva, that is the same. The whole Ganesh Shakti's
evolution, you see; it is so beautiful. So this way our desire itself becomes
the Spirit, your desire and your Spirit become one – but this hurdle can be very
bad sometimes. You have seen that all of you who have left Vishuddhi, when you
speak harshly you must know it is not you who is speaking. No, because you are
the " Spirit " . " Spirit " cannot say anything harsh or destructive. It will only
say harsh, when it is necessary to little bit remould. But that you don't take
over. That will be done by somebody else. " (Nirmala Vidya, Rahuri, India,
31-12-1980)... (Nirmala Yoga, Jan-Feb '81, Pg.20)
" On the left side the problem starts from left Swadisthana, because that is the
first chakra that starts emitting negativity within us. Now left Swadisthana is
actually under control only of Sri Ganesh because Sri Ganesh is the beginning of
life and also the link between life and death. So Ganesh is the one who gives
the balance, the 'Vivek' the understanding to you by which you know how far to
go with things. " (Advice given at Delhi, 11-03-1981 – Nirmala Yoga, May-Jun '81,
Pg.3)
" This is the key of " Nirmala Vidya " : `How to be humble?' By humility you will
never say, `This is my bathroom, or this is my fruit, or this is my food, or
this is my table, and this is my glass.' Innocence gives you the strength to
enjoy everything that is there. I mean for me, sometimes I have to eat with
bhoots (negativity), and sometimes I have to eat bhoots. Not only eat with them,
but also eat them – is the worst part. So you should also not mind if there are
people with bhoots. If they are arrogant, try to give them bandhans, try to
control them through all these methods. But if you think by arguing with them
you will be able to manage them, it's an impossibility. So try " Nirmala Vidya " ,
and that is humility, which is the myelin sheath of vibrations. Like every nerve
has a myelin sheath covering it, in the same way is humility; is the myelin
sheath. If you are humble, you will win the battle; if you are not, you will be
lost. Then the whole thing will become a joke for you, `absolute' joke. If you
are humble you can see the stupid, the bhoots and all the arrogant clowns of
this drama. " (Innocence and Virginity, London, 17-10-1982)…(Nirmala Yoga, March-
April 1985, Pg.19)

Spreading Love
She had taught the sahajayogis to forgive everybody. She claims that forgiveness has great power. I personally feel that it is the most difficult thing to do in life, but with the blessings of Mataji I am also learning to forgive others, irrespective of their behaviour. It is utmost essential , Mataji says, otherwise you get involved, in hatred, jealousy and all such things, negative thinking about those people, which harms you personally, perhaps unknowingly. The feeling of retaliation can disturb you from within and you always loose balance of mind, peace of mind and get entangled with all these evil feelings. So first and foremost thing is to forgive everybody, even our worst enemies for our own interest. As the Jesus has said on Cross that " Please forgive them, they do not understand what they are doing ", like that Mataji also spreads the message of forgiveness.
Mataji's vision of Loving World - Following words express the visition of Mataji Nirmaladevi to transform this world in to World full of Love and all inmates also full of love in their heart.
Let us all help Mataji to transform this fighting world into loving world.
Mataji's vision -
"This is the one, started already! My vision for Sahaja Yoga is that all the good people, righteous people, God-loving people will rise above all that is useless, worldly, and reside in the Heavens with all the blessings of God, for ever and ever."
"My vision is that these right actions and the appropriate reactions will bear their fruit of a very beautiful world of brotherhood and peace, which will be worthy of its enlightenment".
Self-realization is the key to achieve the global transformation
"When the Kundalini flows into you and fills you up with vitality, you become extremely dynamic and at the same time extremely compassionate, kind and mild. You feel that you are protected and thus you are confident but not egotistical. Your whole personality changes. This is the kind of global transformation which is taking place with such a speed all over that I, myself, am surprised at how it is working out so fast.
Actually, this knowledge existed a long time back but my contribution, if there is any, is that we can now achieve en-masse Realization. Thousands can achieve mass Realization. It is a gift of this time where it was predicted that such a global transformation will take place. The power of Kundalini is the pure desire of attaining your self-hood. If someone doesn't want to have it, you cannot force him because the Divine respects the freedom of that person".
The enlightenment takes place
"Self-realization can be attained easily if the people have a sincere and pure desire to get their self-realization. It works better for people who are wise, who are more in the center, and it works very fast. Thus you become very powerful and at the same time you understand that you are now glorified and you start behaving in a very dignified and a very sensible manner. This is how a new culture is born and this new culture takes you, in a way, into a new style of life where you become innately righteous.
Nobody has to tell you: "Don't do this" and "Don't do that". It is all achieved through your enlightened attention. This enlightened attention is also full of power. Wherever you put your attention it works, it creates peace, it creates harmony and also it creates a new dimension of collective consciousness."
The truth of Sahaja Yoga is spreading out tremendously
Pure love will bring a new beginning
"Love should have no fear. It should have just free love, without any fear, without any aggression. Enjoy that pure love. And that is what is missing in the human beings today as it is.
When the day will come when human beings will understand the beauty of love, then from the heavens there will be flowers falling on us.
It is my vision. It’s the future for you, to see how peacefully you can talk to people, how sweetly you can love others, how much you can give to others.”
This global transformation will definitely happen
"With your good wishes, with your prayers, this world will be so beautiful, so enchanting that, in the history, people will describe that the world itself became a lotus full of fragrance of divinity. You are the petals, you are the corona, you are the color, you are the beauty, you are the pollen of that beautiful lotus, which is my vision of this world."

Seven Chakras and Energy within Us
At the same time, within us resides a subtle system of channels (nadis) and centers of energy (chakras) which look after our physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being.
Each of the seven chakras has several spiritual qualities. These qualities are intact within us, and even though they might not always be manifest, they can never be destroyed.
When the Kundalini is awakened, these qualities start manifesting spontaneously and express themselves in our life.
Thus, through regular meditation, we become automatically very dynamic, creative, confident and at the same time very humble, loving and compassionate. It is a process which starts to develop by itself when the Kundalini rises and starts to nourish our chakras.
Mooladhara Chakra
It is the inner wisdom that is ever present in the little children, and gets sometimes clouded by our modern lifestyles. But it is a quality which exists eternally within us and cannot be destroyed, waiting to be manifest as pure joy when the Kundalini rises.
Swadishthan Chakra
The pure knowledge given by this chakra is not mental, but it is direct perception of the Reality, that can be felt in our palms and indicates our subtle blockages. Also this is the center of pure, steady attention and power of concentration.
On the physical level it looks after our liver, kidneys, and the lower abdomen. When we think too much, this center gets drained of energy and diseases like diabetes or blood cancer can occur when this chakra goes completely out of balance.
Nabhi Chakra
On the left side, the main quality of this center is peace - clearing this chakra can relieve stress and tensions.
On the right side, it looks after our liver which is the organ of our attention and power of concentration.
When enlightened by the Kundalini, the Nabhi chakra gives us our spiritual ascent, righteousness and inner sense of morality, and complete balance at all levels in our life.
The Void
In many spiritual traditions, this area is the "ocean of illusions" that needs to be crossed with the help of a spiritual guide. When the Kundalini is awakened and passes through the Void, this principle of mastery is established within us.
Thus, as Shri Mataji says, in Sahaja Yoga you become your own guru, your own spiritual guide since you can feel on your fingertips all your subtle problems and have the power to cure them using your own Kundalini.
Moreover, establishing this center helps us get rid of all our habits, laziness, gross attachments, and everything that enslaves us in a way or another: we become our own master.
Following false "gurus" who are more interested in power tricks or your purse can damage very much the Void area. But after Self Realization, everything can be cured through the purifying power of the Kundalini in meditation.
The Heart Chakra or Anahat Chakra
After Self Realization, our attention becomes for the first time connected to our Spirit and we gradually become aware of it. Our misidentifications with our ego or conditionings drop and we start becoming identified with our Spirit, which is our true nature.
On the physical level, this chakra looks after our heart and lungs - if affected it can cause asthma or various heart conditions.
It is from our heart that the compassion and love manifests, and also the heart chakra is the one that gives us the sense of responsibility and pure behaviour towards others. The heart chakra manifests in the center (at the level of the sternum bone) as complete security and confidence.
All our worries, doubts and fears are destroyed when the heart chakra is fully enlightened by the Kundalini.
Vishuddhi Chakra
It removes all our guilts and remorses when it is opened by the Kundalini, and gives us a kind and compassionate voice. The tendencies to dominate others or to feel dominated by others, the feelings of superiority or inferiority and all jealousies are removed when this chakra is nourished by the Kundalini.
Also, the Vishuddhi is the chakra which gives us the connection with the whole, enabling us to feel our oneness and the fact that we are all part and parcel of the whole.
The Agnya Chakra
It is the one that dissolves all our ego, conditionings, habits, false ideas of racialism, and all our misidentifications. It is the narrow gate which opens the way for our consciousness to ascend to its final destination, which is the seventh center.
Roving eyes, watching impure things, or self-centeredness damage this chakra. Watching the sky, earth or nature can help cleanse it.
The Sahasrara Chakra
Nowadays, we are at a level which corresponds to this chakra, and our consciousness is able to easily enter into this new realm of perception, which is beyond our limited mind and concepts, and which becomes absolute at the level of the Sahasrara.
This chakra gives us the direct, absolute perception of Reality on our central nervous system.
This is precisely what is achieved by Self Realization, through the spontaneous awakening of the Kundalini given by Sahaja Yoga.
By the kind gesture of Mataji Nirmaladevi this important live system is made known and opened for all those who wish to learn Sahajayoga and pray to Mataji to offer them this wisdom. Lakhs of people all over the world have taken benefit and through awakening of Kundalini got self knowledge and became enlightened soul.
Know about Sahajayoga, practice it and benefit it, freely all life all over the world.
