Three Masters - Hope, Fear and Knowledgte

Hope, Fear and Knowledge
When a great Sufi mystic, Hassan, was dying, somebody asked, ‘Hassan, who was your Master?’
He said, ‘Now it is too late to ask. Time is short, I am dying.’
But the inquirer asked, ‘You can simply say the name. You are still alive, you are still breathing and talking, you can simply tell me the name.’
He said, ‘It will be difficult because I had thousands of Masters. If I just relate their names it will take months and years. It is too late. But three Masters I will certainly tell you about.
‘One was a thief. Once I got lost in the desert, and when I reached the village it was very late. Half the night was already gone; shops were closed, caravanserais were closed. There was not a single human being on the roads. I searched for somebody to inquire of. I found one man who was trying to make a hole in the wall of a house.
I asked him where I could stay, and he said, “I am a thief, and you look like a Sufi mystic to me. Right now it will be very difficult to find any place to stay, but you can come to my home. You can stay with me — if you can stay with a thief.” ‘
Hassan said, ‘I hesitated a little bit. Then I remembered. If the thief is not afraid of a Sufi, then why should the Sufi be afraid of a thief? In fact, he should be afraid of me.
So I said, “Yes, I will come.”
And I went, and I stayed with the thief. And the man was so lovely, so beautiful, I stayed for one month!
And each night he would say to me, “Now I am going to my work. You rest, you pray, you do your work.”
And when he would come back I would ask, “Could you get anything?”
He said, “Not tonight. But tomorrow I will try again.”
And he was never in a state of hopelessness.
‘For one month continuously he came empty-handed, but he was always happy.
And he said, “I will try tomorrow. God willing, tomorrow it is going to happen. And you also pray for me. At least you can say to God, ‘Help this poor man.'”
And then Hassan said, ‘When I was meditating and meditating for years on end, nothing was happening, and many times the moment came when I was so desperate, so hopeless that I thought to stop all this nonsense. There is no God, and all this prayer is just madness, all this meditation is false — and suddenly I would remember the thief who would say every night, “God willing, tomorrow it is going to happen.”
‘So I tried one day more. If the thief was so hopeful, with such hope and trust, I should try at least one day more. And many times it happened, but the thief and the memory of him helped me to wait one day more. And one day, it happened, it DID happen! I bowed down. I was thousands of miles away from the thief and his house, but I bowed down in his direction. He was my first Master.
‘And my second Master was a dog. I was thirsty and I was going towards the river, and a dog came. He was also thirsty. He looked into the river, he saw another dog there — his own image — and became afraid. He barked and the other dog barked, too. But his thirst was so much that he would hesitate and go back. He would come again and look into the water and find the dog there. But the thirst was so much that he suddenly jumped into the water, and the image disappeared. He drank the water, he swam in the water — it was a hot summer. And I was watching. I knew that a message had come to me from God. One has to jump in spite of all fears.
‘When I was on the verge of jumping into the unknown, the same fear was there. I would go to the very edge, hesitate, and come back. And I would remember the dog. If the dog could manage, why not I? And then one day I jumped into the unknown. I disappeared and only the unknown was left behind. The dog was my second Master.
‘And the third Master was a small child. I entered into a town and a small child was bringing a candle, a lit candle, hiding it in his hands and going to the mosque to put the candle there.
Just joking, I asked the boy, “Have you lit the candle yourself?”
He said, “Yes, sir.”
And I asked, jokingly, “Can you tell me from where the light came? There was a moment when the candle was unlit, then there was a moment when the candle was lit, can you show me the source from which the light came? And you have lit it, so you must have seen the light coming — from where?”
And the boy laughed and blew out the candle, and said, “Now you have seen the light going, where has it gone? You tell me!”
And my ego was shattered, and my whole knowledge was shattered. And that moment I felt my own stupidity. Since then I dropped all knowledgeability.’

Destructive Power Of Shri Mahadeva

It’s a very great privilege for all of us to understand about Shri Mahadeva.
Unless and until you have got your Self-realisation you cannot understand what is the great personality, the character and the powers of Shri Mahadeva.
It’s not easy to conceive, also to reach the depth of His greatness, unless and until we are humble. We have to be very humble to reach at the lotus feet of Shri Mahadeva. As you have seen that one has to cross even the Sahasrara to be at the lotus feet of this Great Personality. He is beyond, beyond our conception, but He resides in our hearts as the Spirit and is reflected very well when you get your Realisation.
But still one has to understand the powers of Shri Mahadeva; which is not very easy to describe about this great God in little words.
But the first power He Himself has [is] that He is a very forgiving God: He forgives; He forgives us so many of our sins, so many of our destructive activities, our horrible mind which tries to create problems for everyone, up to a point. But He has the greatest power to destroy. His destruction comes so suddenly because He rules all the elements. All the elements He rules: He rules the Mother Earth, and He rules all other elements. Through their causal, He rules. And He can destroy everything that He wants to if He finds there is [any] problem.
I have to tell you that earthquakes are managed by Him, not by me. I am not there for destruction. He’s the one who sees what’s happening on this earth, what’s happening to the human being.
I’ll give you an example of Gujarat: apart from anything, Gujarat people are very money-oriented; they are worried with the stock-exchange, this, that, all the time money, money, money, money, money. Even if they are abroad, they are extremely money-oriented. Sometimes I am surprised. It’s impossible to talk to them about Sahaj Yoga and they like artificial type of things like some gurus or somebody.
I don’t know from where did they get like this, [but] whatever it is, we have a state called Bhavnagar in Gujarat. Bhavnagar people came, they brought for me those silver slippers, padukas, to be vibrated; I was surprised, I was happy at least, that these people are thinking about it. So they did a puja, they did a havan in Bhavnagar and also in Baroda. These are the two places [which] were not touched by the bhukamp (भूकंप - earthquake), by the earthquake. Can you imagine! And Surat which is very much distant, was absolutely shattered. There are Sahaj Yogis, very few, all of them were saved, and their houses also did not move. This is between the protection of your Mother and the wrath of God Almighty. One has to understand this very well, that He has powers over all the elements.
I went to France, and there some people in France tried to trouble me. And all the media got after me. And on the television, everywhere, they were saying all kinds of things against me. I knew something would go wrong somewhere and suddenly from the sea a big – I don’t know what to call it – a big storm started, suddenly, no one knows why. And two ships were completely sunk, and those people who went to rescue them got cancer. Then it came: this storm started moving fast and all the churches lost their top, heads I should say. All the churches lost it. So many priests’ houses were ruined and it travelled and came up to the place where I had purchased a very big castle. It just stopped, and just stopped at the brink of it.
Now, it’s not my doing, I must tell you. But this is what He does. Though He’s very forgiving, He’s extremely kind, He’s blissful, but you should be aware of His powers.
All those powers are used to protect my work, I should say. It goes too far and it is to show to people that they shouldn’t obstruct the work of spirituality. It should be real spirituality. It should not be somebody like a false guru coming up and showing some magic, or talking something about some far-fetched things. But the real spirituality, if you have, the protection will be always there, and Shiva will be very blissful.
He’s extremely blissful. And what He has given you is even more beautiful than you could think of. He’s extremely forgiving. I should say He is the source of forgiveness.
If you have forgiveness in your heart, He resides in your heart. Otherwise, gradually, you start developing very difficult types of diseases.
Say If you are forgiving, your heart runs very fast. No one can touch your heart. You cannot get heart attacks. But if you are tolerating, suffering and taking many things as a power of your own, doing wrong things and forgetting about God, then you also start developing a very weak heart. So one side is that you develop a heart which is extremely aggressive, and can become like Hitler’s heart. Under any kind of pretensions if you start torturing someone your heart becomes solid and then you can get a tremendous massive heart-attack, and all the troubles from that. This is inevitable.
But supposing you are extremely tolerant and you tolerate all nonsense, you are very docile, you are a frightened person. If you are frightened, then because of fright you do that, you can develop another kind of a heart [which] we call as angina where the blood supply is there, and ultimately you develop a kind of a guilt and you lead a very mediocre life.
So this second thing also is very visible among people who think they are very, very tolerant. I am saying that tolerance is alright because of Spirituality, but not because you are frightened, and you are afraid of something. If you are a Sahaj Yogi you have no business to be afraid of anything.

To be Jealous is Very Bad

To be jealous of any one is very bad.”
Shiva Tattva is the destination to Shiva, and the path is made by Lord Vishnu. To create this path Vishnuji, and Adishakti have taken efforts. Lord Shiva has no role in it: He sits comfortably in his Seat, not bothering about anyone who comes or does’nt come. So, to attain this Shiv Tattva, we should go through this Vishnu Path (Sushumna Path) And for that, the several chakras (centres) that are present, have to be corrected first. When the centers are cleansed, our Vishnu path opens up. And along with that, we gradually start ascending. I have told about all these centers, many a times. But, there is a center in Heart also, which we call `Left Heart’. This is not the chakra of the heart, It is just that, the heart, which, reflects the reflection of Mahadeva. The abode of Shiva is above everything, Beyond the mind, beyond the thoughts. To attain this kind of tatva (principle), first and foremost we should pay attention, to see how pure our heart is. Inside our heart, we give place to many evil thoughts. For example, we feel jeolous of someone. feeling jeolous, in the sense, if sombody has been evil to you, might have harmed you also, troubled you, But there is no use becoming jeolous of them. If your heart is pure then the mirror in which, The God almighty’s reflection is going to fall, will be very clear. But if you are full of jealousy, then the mirror will not remain clean and the reflection of will also not be perfect.
To have enmity towards anyone, And towards anyone to have in the heart, any kind of miserable thoughts or ill feeling, is very wrong that is why, Christ has said that forgive everyone. To forgive is extremely important and, before and after Christ, many saints have said the same thing that forgive everybody. The moment you forgive, immediately Lord Shiva, takes the situation in his hands. The Subtlest power of all, is that of shri mahadev. And He, then completely punishes him, totally punishes him. This is the work of Lord Mahadev, not yours.
When within a person Shri Mahadev resides, Who can dare to touch such a person, who can destroy him? Whatever you do, however you trouble him, still that person can not be destroyed. But those who harass them, will get destroyed themselves. When the complete trust regarding this, will come within you that whoever is troubling you, will get destroyed Then you will keep your heart totally pure and clean.. This work can happen only in a clean heart. because the Shiva resides in our heart, as reflection. And the reflection falls better in a clean mirror.
Shiv Ji’s anger is a one time job, or rather people say that He gets angry only once. But I have seen him getting angry many a times, because it is His right. He has a right to be angry. If any one works against Adi Shakti, then Shiv Ji has very long hands. Without listening to anyone, He finishes such a person. Because he knows that Adi Shakti will not do anything herself. She is not going to punish anyone at all, and She will forgive rveryone. So, His hands are so long, that there is no limit to them and, when those hands start lashing, then nothing can stop them. Who is there to check Him? He has got his own protocols, which you can neither change nor go beyond.
This is how you should understand that in your individual life In Sahaja Yoga you have to follow only Lord Shiva. Because, if you don’t follow Him, firstly, You will get heart problems. The first thing will be heart desease. It works out in two ways. Firstly with excessive anger the heart catches, and secondly, after the anger if a person repents, then you get the disease of `Angina’. This is how both the things are useless. ..

UNIVERSAL UNCONSCIOUS

Universal Unconscious
Kundalini, which is there within you, since all your previous lives, is nurtured in you. She records all things like a tape- what problems he has, this is my son, what are his problems he has in his body, which thing he needs. She knows each and everything about you. Your mother may have many children but you are the only child of this mother (Kundalini). You are the only child. Ever since I was born, I was observing that the Kundalini in each person is frozen just there. She just does not rise. What is the reason? The rising path of Kundalini is fixed and she knows that I have to rise through this path.
There is a big space in between; here those who are doctors can understand that in this Void, which is in between vagus nerve and aortic plexus, there is vacuum. In the same way, there is also a space in our sushumna nadi. Because of this space created in all the human beings that Kundalini shakti is inherent. I was just not able to understand that this Kundalini shakti will rise, but how. The found-out remedy to fill this gap is Sahaja Yoga. When this Kundalini shakti rises, then it goes upside and again it goes up through this path and intermingles you with power which fills our vibrations. You see, it’s just like petrol. First, it was filled within us then we used it. We have consumed it because of our outgoing tendency. Now to fill new petrol again, this cap has once again been opened up. And for that person it is Kundalini which opens it.
From above, the Shakti (power) flows through you for whole time in the form of grace. When this takes place, at that time, you will feel like there is some power flowing through your hands. Now it is surprising that from the beginning, ever since the power of Chaitanya (vibrations) has been working, the gross power and Chaitanya (vibratory) power have been together. Like there is a tree, inside tree is vibratory power, there is a light that is why it is being nourished. But you don’t see that. You are watching only the growth of tree means you are watching the work of just gross power. It is the Chaitanya shakti (vibratory power) which always runs the gross power, it regulates it and it does its work. But time it is seen for the first time when you are Realized. Then there is manifestation of this. For the first time, it starts flowing through you when flow is opened from above and it start coming from inside. Cool –cool vibration comes in hands. But you, yourself reach that state where thoughtless awareness gets established. There is antarmoh (inner attachment). If there is any psychologist here, he can understand this, it is called Universal Unconscious.
Na sankhen,na yogen
Adi Shankaracharya has talked of nothing but Sahaja Yoga. He had just said,’ na sankhen, na yogen’-God is not achieved either by sankhya or yoga, he is achieved in a sahaja way, spontaneously. The growth is spontaneous and he had not made any caste. He had said that there were three kind of people in the world, the one who of lower level, those who do not have much intelligence. Those who have not yet developed fully as a human being. For example, this mike is not yet fully prepared as a machine, then there is no need to connect it to the mains either and there is no use also. It is better that these types of people are remained in ‘bhakti rasa’- the essence of devotion. They are of no use.
Second type of people, are those whose minds run here and there. That is why they indulge in wrong things or they are stuck to such work which make their energy exhausted. These types of people should get into yoga so that they should be able to save themselves by yoga. But the third type of people who are such mild and are of such a pure form that this unique phenomenon takes place in them. Now the only difference between him (Adi Shankaracharya) and me is that he used to say there that there is one in millions and I say that there are thousands in millions. This is the only difference between both of us. It may be possible that there used to be such people in sixth century but as of today I see there are thousands of them who are getting this thing.

JOURNEY TO THE INNER UNIVERSE

JOURNEY TO THE INNER UNIVERSE
"I was born in India, in a Christian family. If you are enlightened, you perceive the essence of everything, and in essence, it doesn't matter what religion you are born into. But you don't have to disregard any other religion, but try to find out as much as possible about the other religions and discover that the essence is the same in each of the religions. If that's the case, what's the point of fighting? The aggressive do not belong to any religion, while the truth is found in every religion.
Overall, my life was dedicated to others. I am very open with people, a quality I have manifested since childhood. I was extremely friendly with those who lived near our house; my mother was known as Nirmala's mother, and my father, as Nirmala’s father. They used to say, "Because of our daughter, we don't even have a name."
Never felt alone. When I am just with myself, I am not lonely at all, because I enjoy myself very much.
In 1974, when I came to London due to my husband's service, I had a Sahaja Yoga program. Seven hippies left after this program and I had to model them. For four years I worked with them to give them the Realization. They proved to be very difficult.
At that time I have been to India several times, where the work was also done. We first started in the villages, where we launched a massive action.
Gradually, people found that this was the way they could change. Many of them had taken drugs or alcohol or were mentally unstable in a certain way. Their condition soon improved and they recovered.
INTERLUDE
Feel joy because you seek the comfort of the spirit. This one just gives you joy.
You think that, by accumulating, you will feel joy, but you fail.
By awakening the Kundalini energy you receive that joy and, filled with joy, you wish for nothing else. You don't ask for anything else.
Just enjoy yourself , You are the ability to enjoy.
In Sanskrit it is said: "The spirit is pleased with the spirit itself".

Shri Ganesha - Source of Wisdom, Power of Truth

The first blessing of Shri Ganesha, which I think is the highest, is the wisdom– that we learn what is good for us and what is bad for us, what is constructive and what is destructive, what should we do to achieve our Self-Realization. Those people who have got wisdom are very lucky people.
But wisdom comes from no source but your own understanding of life. When a person starts thinking, “Why am I doing such and such thing? What is the effect of my doing? What is the result of my behaviour? Is it good for me or bad for me?” then wisdom comes in.
Even if some people know that this is bad for them, still they do not have power to control themselves. Still they do lots of bad things which they should not do. The reason is, the power of wisdom is not there. A person who is wise does not only know what is right and wrong, but also he knows very well his own power not to do something wrong. He just does not do it.
Wisdom is a complete power within ourselves by which we try nothing; it just spontaneously works through us and we do things which are proper and right. In this wisdom, many people have risen very high in life.
For example, we’ll take the example of Kabir. Kabir was born to a weaver, they say. They don’t think he was born to him but he was found by a weaver, whatever it is. And he belonged to a Muslim family. But he realized that the Muslims as they are practising their Islam is not going to give him what he wants. He has to seek his Self, he has to know himself. So what did he do, is to go on the bank of River Ganges in Benares, and he stayed there waiting for a great realized soul called as Ramanand, Swami Ramanand. When this Swami Ramanand came back after his bath, immediately he caught hold of his feet. After bath, if somebody catches the feet of any Brahmin, he would shout at him. But he was a saint, he was not a Brahmin. He said, “My son what do you want?” He said, “Sir, give me initiation. I want Self-Realization.” And Swami Ramanand immediately agreed. All the other people said, “Sir, he is a Muslim. He is an orphan brought up in a Muslim family, how can you give realization? He’ll not accept any of the principles which look like [they’re] coming from Hindu religion.” Ramanand looked at Kabir. He could see a great seeker there. He said, “You don’t know him, I know him.” And he took him with him and Kabira became a great saint after that. He’s accepted by Hindus and Muslims. Because he had that power of wisdom, he went to a man who was not belonging to his religion, who may have not accepted him, who might have just thrown him in the river also, possibly. But he knew also through his wisdom that this man is the one who will love me, because I am a seeker of truth.
So this power of truth works not only that you know what is right and wrong, again I say, but that you just don’t do something that is wrong. Now one may say, “Mother, what is the source again, of this wisdom?” The source is Shri Ganesha. The source is Shri Ganesha, which is the giver of wisdom.
Once Shri Ganesha is insulted and He disappears behind the clouds of ignorance, then people start doing things which are unwise. This happens with many things. Supposing these days, in the democratic countries, they are not supposed to say anything about the morality, about how people should behave, what should be their relationships. They don’t try to look after the society because they think looking after the society is not our job, it’s a private affair, it’s a private thing. As a result, people take freedom into their hands and start insulting Shri Ganesh.
When Shri Ganesha is insulted, complete blockage takes place in a human being, I think. He becomes an idiot. He becomes a stupid fellow; he doesn’t understand how to go on further with wisdom. Without wisdom, whatever steps one takes is destructive.
