Birthday of Adishakti Mataji Nirmaladevi

Mataji Nirmaladevi, the founder of Sahaja Yoga was born on 21st March 1923 at Chhindwara in India. In one of her lectures she had clearly told that she had taken birth not as per her wish but due to demand from public at large, becuase of their call and desire, the adishakti had to take rebirth.

She belonged to Christian family and her surname was Salve before her marriage.  She was the daughter of a very affluent family .  Her father was a  great lawyer and fluent in 14 languages. Mr . Prasad Salve, her father translated the Quran into hindi language.  He was also  member of legislative council of India and helped in writing the Indian Constitution.    Though he was highly respected and honored by britishers, he did not hesitate to join the Indias freedom movement.  He actively participated in the movement also had been jailed for that. He also burnt his own foreign  made clothes in the public square of Nagpur.

Mataji nirmaladevis mother was also freedom fighter and had been to jail for participation in freedom struggle.  She was the first Indian woman to receive an honors degree in mathematics.  She was scholar in Sanskrit and deep knowledge of Indian culture.

Matajis parents chose the name “Nirmala” which means  “Immaculate”.  Mataji had a very satisfied family life with two daughters.   From the childhood she was aware of a unique gift which she desired to make available to all mankind.  She was fortunate to have close association with Mahatma Gandhi since childhood along with her parents.  Gandhiji was aware of her power from her childhoold and hence sought her advice on spiritual matters at times.   Mataji was actively involved and played a role in quit india movement and hence had to undergo jail term.    She had studied Medicine and Psycology at the Christian Medical College in Lahore.

Mataji Nirmaladevi had  used her life for expansion and spreading of Sahaja yoga all over the world by using her own money and time.  She was aware of the hidden spiritual power in every human being which was known as Kundalini in Hindus, as Ruh in Muslims and known as cool breeze in Bible.   She helped mankind to know this all pervading power .  She found out and established a system whereby people can experience this divine power in the form of cool breeze over the whole body, more particularly on both palms of their hands and on the top of their head – around the fontanel bone area.

Mataji Nirmaladevi is the only guru on this planet who spontaneously gave the experiences of self realization completely freely throught the life.   Even after her passing away the sahajayoga is tought free of charge all over the world.   She was the only one who could awaken the spiritual power  (kundalini) at an en mass level.   A very rare and significant aspect of sahajayoga.

Sahajayoga is now spread in more than hundred countries and enjoyed by people from all walks of life  without any discrimination as poor or rich, black or white, belonging to all religions and sects of the world.   They are practicising sahajayoga while carrying on their normal family life without any disturbance.  It is the only form of yoga which provides complete satisfaction, and numerous medical beneifits along with mental peace and harmony of body and mind.   For this reasons everyday there are so many seekers all over the world who want to join sahaja yoga and live peaceful life in the world.

For her contirubiton to the human society at large number of national and international awards have been conferred upon her.

On her Birthday all sahajayogis of the world assure her to follow the principles of “Wishwa Nirmala Dharma”.  The values she cherished throughtout the life like Love, Affection, Compassion, would be spread by sahajayogis.

Mr. Klaus Nobel  once said –

Now, Alfred Nobel thought basically about peace as absence of war, but I assure you that peace is much more than absence of war. I see that peace exists in four specific areas. The first area is the peace that an individual has in him or herself. How do we treat our mind, our emotions and our feelings? How do we treat our body? Are we slaves to other masters or are your own master? Until we have the inner peace in ourselves, we can never have an outer peace in the world.

The safest and best way of finding world peace is to have massmovements that include all religions and philosophies, all enterprises whether they are of political or scientific nature, to realize what inner peace is.

Ladies and gentlemen, the self in us is the divine cosmic power that exists in each and every individual but which is dormant in most people around the world. The spiritual leaders from ancient lore, they knew about this and they spoke about it but this secret of secret has been suppressed deliberately until Shri Mataji, with great courage and great wisdom, being an old soul who decided by herself to come back to the earth at this critical time in our history in order to share her knowledge and wisdom, which is the Sahaja yoga, which is instant self-realization, which is to activate the dormant principle that we all have, the Kundalini, and have the Kundalini to raise up and thus we become what it says in the Bible, you are created in my image. That was the first category, first sphere of peace. The one we have in ourselves.

Worst Enemy of Liver is Alcohol

If your liver is not all right, your attention cannot be all right...and to keep a good liver, keep your eyes down."-H H Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (8.03.1979)

.......But the worst enemy of liver is alcohol. Absolutely it’s the worst enemy. I mean, if you want to die… best thing is go to a pub, take drinks and die. It’s like buying your death. Like calling a bull, 'Come and hit me. I will give you money.' It is something like that. It’s absolutely self-destroying. And only after Realization you are so relaxed and you enjoy your company so much that it is very easy to give up.
........If your liver is not all right, your attention cannot be all right. So those people who have a habit you see – sometimes they’ll see through the back of their eyes, or from here – there – they think they are doing something great by doing these things – such people can never have good livers. So to keep a good liver, keep your eyes down. Don’t give them too much work. We are giving too much work to our eyes and that’s how it is keeping our attention all the time wobbled out, and if your attention is out, then you can never feel happy. So the liver sustains the attention and for you to be best Sahaja yogi is to put your eyes down, on the Mother Earth. Walk with less raising of your eyes. Respect your eyes. You’re not to waste your eyes on all the time anybody coming up your… I’ve seen even in meditation people can’t keep their eyes straight. You have to keep your eyes all the time in a mood that you’re enjoying yourself, and not enjoying others. But just enjoying yourself, you cannot enjoy others, you have to enjoy yourself, to enjoy somebody else’s vibrations. You can only enjoy others through their vibrations, not through their seeing. And because of this, once you have this kind of a habit, then your liver always gets into it. Then you curse yourself, you do all kinds of things… that’s no good. Just tell yourself- “Hold my eyes on the Mother Earth.” She sustains, She takes away all your problems and everything............

Bandhan -its uitility, importance in Sahaja Yoga

Bandhan is a special action of hands expected to be done before starting meditation and ending meditation in any sahajayoga program.   It is very simple and can be learned just by having a view of fellow brother or sister in the program.   It is an important step before starting any important work or to protect ourself when we are going out  It is a kind of protection aura around us like the devi kavach given to us by adishakti Mataji Nirmaladevi. This action is like putting a protective shield around ourselves to keep the calm in, and the disturbances out.

Placing a bandhan gives protection to the subtle system from attention disturbances and also protects the aura. Hold the left hand out on your lap, palm upwards. Place your right hand over your left hip and slowly raise your right hand up the left side, over your head and down the right side of your body. Then raise the right hand up the right side, over your head and down the left side. This is one bandhan. Repeat seven times (one for each Chakra).

‘Any time you have a problem, give a bandhan,’ Mataji has said.

It’s helpful to do this both before and after your meditation. Before helps you balance more quickly and bring the energy up, afterwards to help you stay balanced throughout your day.  The movements are also a simple way to signal to your mind and body “now we are going to meditate” (before) and “let’s try and keep this state of peace and calm throughout the day” (after).

Please view following video on Youtube wherein Mataji Nirmaladevi explains as to how to take bandhan properly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALtbHk6QCRA&ab_channel=SYIndia

Bandhan (noun) means a bond, literally

Bandhan (verb) means to tie up
Bandhan in Sahaja Yoga means to “tie up” (Kundalini) or “wind up” vibrations (to get something done).
(-Indian Yogi)

Here are different types of bandhan we use in Sahaja Yoga.

Bandhan we use when we get out of the house for protecting ourselves from sometime not so pure energy that is outside. If we are a parent, we can give bandhan to our little kids as well.

Bandhan we give to somebody during workshop. When we work on somebody, we give ourselves a bandhan and so we do for the other person to protect him or her and also ourselves from “catching” from one another.

Bandhan we give on the chakras of somebody else. This is a simple circle we draw with the right hand in a clockwise direction (if we work from front) or counter clockwise (if we work from behind)

Bandhan we give to our chakras when we perform workshop on ourselves

Bandhan when we check our vibrations, i.e. the status of our subtle system. We put our attention in the left hand (that sits still). We can write our name using the right index finger on the left hand. We draw, using the right hand, few circles around the center of the left palm. Then we keep our hands upward and check the sensation in the palms and fingers. Cool is good, hot is less good

Bandhan that we give when we want to know about a certain item. This can be a person, place, book, movie etc. Similar to the previous one, we just write the name of the item. Cool is good, hot not so much.

Bandhan when we want to decide about something. Similar to the previous one, we just write the question

Bandhan for getting help in a specific situation.

Bandhan that we do for somebody’s problems

Bandhan when we ask for a certain thing to happen.

Of course, when we want to use the bandhan to decide about some course of action or when we inquire about a person or place, we first have to be in good shape ourselves. That is, when we ask about the status of our subtle system, we should feel cool in all the fingers and above Sahasrara.

Sahaja Culture as explained by Mataji Nirmaladevi

Following is the extract of the lecture given by Mataji Nirmaladevi wherein she talked about the Sahaja Culture.

"Today I was thinking of talking, telling you about the Sahaja Culture...

So the culture is the pattern of behavior we have with others. Is a common pattern of behavior we are supposed to have with others...
So the culture of the Spirit doesn't change. It's universal, and is higher than any other culture. Apart from that it integrates all the essences of all the cultures...

So for a person who is imbibed with the culture of spirit, the Sahaj culture, impresses others by his calmness and relaxed attitude. Relaxation never means lethargy, by any chance. It doesn't mean lethargy. Lethargy is against relaxation. A person who is relaxed cannot become lethargic. "Relaxed" means a person who's alert and calm. These two things for human beings is an impossibility, because if they are alert, if they are alert then they're not calm. If they're unhappy, sad, then they think they are very, very calm. So this is one of the things one has to remember, that you have to witness yourself all the time. Not to condemn yourself, but witness.

Now I said the word "witness" means "detached". Now what happens with this, when you start condemning yourself, you miss every good point. For example, you have some experience of a sudden height being achieved. All right? At that point you should catch hold of it, hold on to it, keep doing, but don't forget that you may go back, no. And then wait for another higher moment to come, hold on to it. That's how you climb Himalayas. But not that, "Oh Ma. Now it's all right, but what will happen next?" Then you are gone down, because you have to face yourself in the way, knowing what are your powers. You are a spirit now, you are no more an ordinary human being, so you have no business to condemn yourself, or to degrade yourself, or in any way to feel unhappy. No way. Past is past. What happened a moment before is finished. "Now I am going to rise. Now I am going to rise."

So a person who has a Sahaja culture is not only spontaneous, but is inspired, is an inspired personality. A person who is of that kind, an inspired visionary, then other people get impressed by such a person that, "See, there's a man who's inspired, who talks in an inspired way, in a way that is something very different from others." Something new he says, new that is nourishing. "

Remove stress, anxiety, depression with Sahajayoga Meditation

Stress, Anxiety, Load, Pressure, Depression, Overthinking, etc have became the friends of human beings these days. All these things have became the daily routine of all of us. We are so much engaged in these that we have lost our pure joy, our inner self. Where is our inner peace gone? Also the another part of this is that different kinds of diseases that we have never heard about them are coming in front of us and some of us are suffering form them. We are running behind money, yes it’s our duty to earn for our living but we are striving for more and more money, but people having money are they really happy, Joyful ? Many of us have got everything in our life but still, we are not happy with it we want more, we are not satisfied. Where is this satisfaction gone ? Have we came on this earth to suffer all these things? Have we taken birth to run after money,Job, Business, Girlfriend/Boyfriend, etc ? or there is something else for which we have came here ?

How does this Stress, Anxiety,Depression, Overthinking, etc come in us ?

Usually a human being keeps thinking about his past or about his future. When he thinks about his past he keeps on torturing himself why this happened to me? Why did behaved like that? When he thinks about the future he keeps worrying about What will happen? Will I get that or not? all these things leads to imbalance andgives rise to all the stress, anxiety, depression, overthinking within us and it grows very seriously in us that it becomes impossible to get out of it and it becomes our behavior. But to get out all of these things is possible though Sahaja Yoga.

What is Sahaja Yoga Meditation?

In a smaller sense Sahaja yoga meditation is the technique of meditation but in the larger sense it is the way of living. Sahaja Yoga is a very simple technique of meditation which connects us to our inner being to the all pervading power that created us. This meditation is a cognitive science in which each and every thing can be proven. This meditation is scientifically proven. Sahaja yoga meditation technique is founded by H. H . Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970 for the well being of the whole humanity.

How Sahaja yoga Meditation helps in balancing our lives?

The meditation itself starts with balancing. There are two sides of our subtle system that is left, right and centre. The Left side is all about our emotions or the ‘Ichha Shakti’, our past activities. While the right side is all about our work also called as ‘Kriya Shakti’ and our future. And the central path is all about our present, about the truth, it is the path of our evolution. Itgives us the absolute peace. In the lower part of our the abdomen, in the triangular part of our secrum bone is the Kundalini, it is the power of pure desire within us. When it rises, it passes through our central channel and peerses out of the fontanel bone area at the top of our head and gets connected to the all pervading power in the whole universe. We feel the cool breeze

Lord Ganesha - His powers and position in your life.

Today is birth day of Lord Ganesha.  Mataji Nirmaladevi has given lot of information of this deity.

Lord Ganesha is the deity controlling the first chakra, Mooladhar chakra in every human being.

Following is the extract from one of her lectures on the occasion of ganesh pooja.

But when Parvati made Shri Ganesha, He was the son of Parvati alone. There was no Father. Parvati Herself wanted to have a child of Her own. There were angels who were dedicated either to Vishnu or to Shiva, like ganas were dedicated to Shiva alone.

So, She wanted to have Her own Son who can permeate Her powers on this Earth. So to begin with when the Shakti created this Universe and Sadashiva was watching Her creation, the first thing She created on this Earth was innocence and the embodiment of that innocence was Shri Ganesha. The whole Universe was covered with innocence, which we call as Omkara. This innocence protected all the creation of the world and penetrated into all that is matter. Matter is innocent. If you hit the matter, it will hit you back because it is built like that. It doesn’t want to harm you by any method except that if you try to hit it, it hits you back, in its own nature,

When the Kundalini risesShri Ganesha is awakened in you, the Ganesha whom you never respected, slowly comes up from His slumber, out of the hurt and the injuries inflicted on Him, still He stands up, but still weak.

Shri Ganesha has four hands and the hand that carries the destructive weapon of Parasha is the one you have to be careful about. That is His job and if you neglect Him, that force will act and act so vehemently that despite your realization you may not be able to save yourself. Do not take your realization for granted. Unless and until your Ganesha is settled, your realization has no meaning at all. Watch yourself, have you got adulterous eyes? Have you got an adulterous mind?

After all Shri Ganesha is My Son because He is pure. Now He is not the only son I have. I have so many sons and daughters and I have made you in the same way as I created Shri Ganesha, without the Father, on My own. To your Mother nothing but purity of heart and purity of your body is going to please. Anything that is impure has to be thrown away. My name itself means purity. You can do it. You are empowered to do it. You have a Kundalini to do it. But the first thing you have to do is to cleanse that and the rest you don’t have to worry, Shri Ganesha will look after it. One chakra you keep clean, the rest is looked after. All your incurable diseases right from all muscular troubles like mellitus and all that, all your incurable diseases right from cancer onwards, all your psychosomatic problems right from schizophrenia, everything come because of the disturbance in Mooladhara. When the roots are not all right, how can you cure the tree? If the roots are all right then any medicine can reachany center, any area, any place, any fruit. But if the roots are not all right, how can you work it out?

Shri Ganesha within us is magnetic. So a person who has Shri Ganesha awakened within himself becomes magnetic and magnet attracts the steel – not dried leaves, does not – steel. And steel is like the Guru Tattwa.

Is a man with the steel, say. “Man of steel” – a person who has character, conviction and who cannot be dominated by temptations, is a man of steel. So this magnet attracts the steel. Steel has only one badness, bad thing about it that it is not pliable, it’s rather dry but the magnet attracts, means it creates that special quality in the steel that it moves towards the magnet. In the same way when this magnet is awakened within you, you’ll be amazed. Instead of people running away from your ashrams they’ll be running towards you. I find it impossible. I go to any house, if they come to know I am there, God save Me – anywhere, any place. So what is this magnet? Is pure love.

he deals with Mother Earth everyday. He knows the living process. He knows about the innocence of the Mother Earth. So an innocent person is the wisest among … A child who is innocent is much wiser than ten ego-oriented people. So the second capacity of Shri Ganesha is that you become a wise person. When you speak, people start looking at you. You speak like Kabira, you speak like Nanaka. You speak like something that makes people feel their spirit. This is what I call is a Sahaja yogi.

The Mother Kundalini cannot move, unless and until Shri Ganesha gives the permission. He is like the Vice-Chancellor sitting on all the chakras. He has to certify, “All right. Pass. Go,” on every chakra. And when the Kundalini rises, Shri Ganesha is awakened, otherwise Kundalini cannot rise. But then when He sleeps down, Kundalini sucks, is sucked by Him. Now we think we have lost our innocence. That’s not easy to be lost. It is not destructible.

He guides you. Sahaja yoga cannot work out without Shri Ganesha. He is the one who is Sahaja. He is the one who creates all spontaneity of the world. He is the one who takes you to the right path. He is the one who gives you everything easily. He is the one who creates all the chamatkars, all the magic, all the miracles of the world. He is the Ganapati. He is the one who is sitting on Ganas, in the sense that He is like the king of all the Ganas. The one who has pleased Shri Ganesha has pleased all the Gods and Goddesses because all the Gods and Goddesses are pleasing Shri Ganesha, so what is the need?

He’ll give us wisdom. He’ll give us sense to understand. He’ll give us power to overcome our arrogance that is within us. He’s the one who is the giver of knowledge. He’s the one who  gives us light. Many people in India also worship Shri Ganesha, and go on “Shri Ganesha, Shri Ganesha, Shri Ganesha”, and do all kinds of funny things. That’s like cheating yourself unnecessarily. It’s so simple to establish Shri Ganesha within you. But understand that it is vital that you people who are Sahaja yogis should establish Shri Ganesha, which is a silent power within you, doesn’t talk. It’s a silent power, which acts.,

INDIAN MUSIC IS BUILT AROUND THE BASIC PRIMORDIAL MUSIC

Indian music is unique in itself.  It has many forms and it do having soothing effect on mind and body. Lot many people have experienced it at different times.  Adishakti Mataji Nirmaladevi also has explained the special features and importance of indian music.

Some experts are using music as a therapy for curing various types of patients.  Even the effect of indian music on agricultural front also has been examined and found useful.

INDIAN MUSIC IS BUILT AROUND THE BASIC PRIMORDIAL MUSIC

It is so much connected with the Kundalini awakening; Music and Talas are related to chakras
" Now, I have to tell one more thing, how Indian music is so much connected with the Kundalini awakening, which perhaps I have never talked to you about, is that when the Kundalini rises she passes through various centres and sub-plexuses. When she is rising, she makes a sound altogether is OM. But when you try to refract all these different into different sounds, it becomes from the first chakra if you start SA, RE, GA, MA, PA, DHA, NI – at the Sahasrara it is NI. So there are seven chakras it makes the sound. Now, when the Kundalini rises she has to pass through all these sub-plexuses.

Now, whenNow as you know, there is, the first centre has four subplexus, so the tala is built on four. Then you have six plexuses, we have a tala on six. Then there is, it passes through the ten, so we have a tala in ten. Then there is it passes through twelve so we have a tala of twelve. Last of all is Shri Krishna, Shri Krishna’s place where it has got sixteen sub-plexuses, so it passes through sixteen sub-plexuses. So you can imagine how it works out, at the time of Agnya chakra as you know is only the two matras are there so one has to play on two matras, where you reduce everything to two matras, so far I don’t think Indian music has reached that stage where it just plays with two matras, it will be very difficult but in the South I think sometimes they play with three matras, is something suprising, which the triguna, what we call the three matras. So that from four it becomes two, and then in the Sahasrara it is three but at the end of it is thousand petals. And where, when all these start dancing, the thousand petal start dancing with the permutations and combinations of all these sub-plexuses.

So it is so woven into the classical music, the whole awakening of the kundalini, for which perhaps the modern artist may not be aware of. But it is said everyone knows that Indian music is based on the first sound is OM, the Om-kar. So, this is how all these talas are based that’s why you are so overjoyed, though maybe you may not have understood the classical intricacies of the whole thing but the whole thing was so spontaneous and elevating your Kundalini so well that it gave you the joy ultimately after all what you have to have the joy and not the intellectual analysis of it. So the whole thing, the sub-total of it was tremendous joy and we have to thank all of them for that.
May God bless you.
Sixteen matras you know of Shri Krishna is divided into two, you see, two halves. First half is the right side and the second half is the left side. So at the left side when it goes is called kaal means lower position, lower beat or say a milder beat. So from the Shukla Paksha to the Krishna Paksha as you call it or you can call it from the right to the left. And he goes playing on the left side there, so this is the two sides of the Vishuddhi chakra very well expressed.
[Says something in Hindi about ek tala] We have ek tala of twelve matras and this is as you know of the Shiva. Shiva has got twelve sub-plexuses and that how it is the twelve matras and it is very, ek tala is a very solid thing. Like DHIN DHIN and sometimes they play it so slowly that between the two there is big gap and that’s how Shiva’s work is. So it is all very symbolic, gradually you will evolve into it and you will see to it how Indian music is built around the basic primordial music.
May God bless you. "
